A-Lone Ranger

Greetings from my home to your home. A month ago – a little closer to the beginning of our isolation – I was more sentimental, which led me to share the wonderful wisdom from my grandmother during her times of crisis. Now a month deeper into “Together Alone”, I find myself going a little stir crazy! (You may also have this same sensation!) Luckily, I have had my sewing to keep me busy from numerous requests for face masks.

However sewing is a lone enterprise, and on top of the mandatory isolation due to COVID-19, my mind has been trying to keep busy. Sometimes I play word games in my head, and sometimes my mind plays word games with me.

Recently while sewing face masks, my mind wandered. The outcome made me laugh. And since I am still a little stir-crazy, I thought that I might share it with you:

  1. What actor wear a mask? (A. the Lone Ranger)
  2. Lone? That is us! (We are A-lone in our homes.)
  3. How would the Lone Ranger look wearing a SeaHawk’s face mask? Well … here you go!
A-Lone Ranger

Okay, yes I know, it is silly. But that did not stop me from not only imagining The (double) Masked Man wearing a face mask, but also his right-hand man Tonto!

Seriously though, the face masks are a real big deal. And I am completely inspired by those who have answered the call to supply them. Whether they sew, like me, or are manufacturers that have reworked their machines to supply the needs of America.

After thinking of the Masked Man … I did a little digging and found he followed a strong moral code that I felt would be pertinent to share during this time of separation (below). Pretty amazing for a fictional character!

And of course, if you are looking for a custom-made quilt … you know who to call! :)

I believe that to have a friend, a person must be one.

That all individuals are created equal and that everyone has within themselves the power to make this a better world.

That God put the firewood there but that everyone must gather and light it themselves.

In being prepared physically, mentally, and morally to fight when necessary for what is right.

That mankind should make the most of what equipment he has.

That “this government, of the people, by the people and for the people” shall live always.

That mankind should live by the rule of what is best for the greatest number.

That sooner or later… somewhere…somehow… we must settle with the world and make payment for what we have taken.

That all things change but truth, and that truth alone, lives on forever.

In my Creator, my country, my fellow man.
